What Is Hockey Mahjong?
Hockey mahjong is American Mahjong reimagined through the game of ice hockey. The rules, suits and card you already know stay exactly the same. What changes is the artwork: every tile is illustrated with the gear, players and moments of the rink. Rinkside Mahjong™ by Hockey Is My Country Club™ is the first fully illustrated hockey mahjong set, created by a hockey mom and her travel hockey son. Often played in hotel lobbies and between tournament games.
The Tiles: How Hockey Maps to American Mahjong
- Skates = Craks. The Crak suit, reimagined as skates.
- Sticks = Bams. The Bam suit, reimagined as hockey sticks.
- Pucks = Dots. The Dot suit, reimagined as pucks.
- Referees = Winds. North, East, West and South, called by the refs.
- Nets = Dragons. The three Dragons, reimagined as nets.
- Goalies = Jokers. The most valuable tile in the game, guarding every hand.
The Referee Winds: North, East, West and South.
The Goalie Joker: the most valuable tile in hockey mahjong.
Tournament-life Flowers round out the set, like the Hockey Mom Flower with her tote and rink coffee. All standard American Mahjong suit counts, Jokers and spare tiles are included, so you can play with the current card and traditional rules.
The Hockey Mom Flower.
